Being a mother is a God given honor. It is not a special mark that makes us superior to anyone. We are here on earth to be who we are. Being a mom does not give us the right to step on anyone or to feel less than anyone either.
Being a mom is giving life. Another part of the code is this. Lets see these two: First, give. One of the most important tasks of a mom is to give. Now in so many ways we constantly forget to give. We are tempted to take, hold on to, and keep. So mama, this day if you only remember one thing: give. Let go of that child you so deeply keep attached to you, and start giving him in order for the second thing to happen: life. Our task as moms is to give life. And life itself is in constant development, which includes exploring, pain, joy and independence.
Motherhood, in the code of God the designer of it all, has the purpose of making us discover Him as moms and also for those creatures to do the same. Moms, our children are only a loan. They are not ours. They are God’s. They were not meant to worship and enthrone us. We should never expect to be the center of their lives nor should we consider them our “reason to live”. You and I were already a complete being when they showed up in our lives. Especially complete if you already have Jesus.
One thing I cannot agree with more in the propaganda out there is that motherhood is a matter of sacrifices. Now not those sacrifices that makes us miserable. Instead, those that make us stronger; like the gym for the athlete. No good mom can do it right without adapting to this new life a little. No good mom sacrifices control over letting life happen and letting falls and scratches take place. We are there to help them understand life is about not giving up, while we take strength in God to say good bye sometimes and give a welcoming hug some other times.
Enjoy the journey if you are a mom. We can only get better from where we are standing.
